Tighe Group offers site and shop applied protective coatings. This means we paint prefabricated elements in our factories and provide skilled PTS trained painters to carry out works on site.

Site applied coatings

We are RISQS accredited, with a depth of qualified resource and a track record in delivering contracts worth between £5,000 and £5m. As part of the painting package, we can provide encapsulation systems to protect the rail infrastructure, the public and the environment. We deliver bridge and viaduct schemes, station upgrades, and internal decorating works at stations. Previous contracts include:

CP5 projects in the LNE and Scotland regions, including works in Dumbarton, Glasgow Bradford, Leeds and Doncaster (Amco)
CP5 projects in the Wessex region, including Farnham Road, Upper Kennington and New Barn bridges (Osborne Rail)
Multiple GWR and Crossrail stations (Sisk Rail)
Several East Coast Main Line stations (Lorne Stewart)
Inverness station (Story Rail)
Fenchurch Street and Hackney stations (Spence)

We are currently actively involved in early stage involvement on multiple CP6 projects for Osborne Rail, Amco Rail, Story Rail, Bam Nuttall and Balfour Beatty Rail.

Shop applied coatings

Prefabrication is an effective solution for the rail industry, as it reduces possession requirements, minimises disruption, reduces risks to the workforce, and increases programme control. Prefabricated structures are transported to our factories, where we apply the coatings prior to their erection on site. We paint rail, road and pedestrian bridge structures, as well as station canopies. Previous projects include:

Many of the above clients are also discussing CP6 projects which can benefit from being blast cleaned and painted within our factories.

Clients benefit from our ability to provide on and off- site coatings application. For example, Alun Griffiths engaged us to blast clean and paint three footbridges in North Wales. Sections of the bridges were removed from site, transported to our factories in Doncaster and Scunthorpe for preparation and painting, and then returned to site. Remaining sections were treated at the workface.
