The Framework had 4 painting contractors who tendered for each project as it came on stream. We worked directly for the Estates & Buildings Department, were accountable to their Facilities Managers and had succuesfully completed circa £190,000 of redecoration work to date when the Framework came to an end on 1 January 2016.
Works completed have varied in order value from £500 to £35,500 and have included redecoration of the Principal’s Room in St Cuthberts College, painting of a 2 bedroom flat in Keenan House, redecoration of student bedrooms and communal areas in Van Mildert College and Trevelyan College, redecoration of all internal painted surfaces at St Mary’s College Williamson Block (including 106 rooms and 2 wings for £22,000) and bathroom and kitchen refurbishments in John Snow College.
Many orders have involved painting in occupied buildings with restricted hours of working and to short programmes, for example the completion of 8 student blocks at Ustinov College in 4 weeks for £17,000.
Required specifications consisted generally of emulsion or satin finish to walls and ceiings, undercoat and gloss or eggshell to woodwork, and wallpaper hanging to various feature areas. There were also elements of specialised hygienic coating systems and anti-fungicidal coatings, particularly in food preparation areas and health centres.
Quarterly progress meetings were held with the Estates & Buildings Department to review past works and KPI data, and to discuss future opportunities and confirmed orders. Following the end of the Framework we will still be invited to tender for painting works whilst the Estates & Buildings Department decide on their future means of procurement.
This contract was managed from our Richmond Branch Office with support from the Kirton Lindsey Head Office.
