We are an established contractor within the defence sector. Our marine team has long-term contracts for blasting and painting naval vessels, while our decorating business has been maintaining military sites for over 60 years.
Our workforce is fully accredited for blasting and painting in this sector, including Radar Absorbent Sheeting (RASH), Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) and Radar Absorbent Paint (RAP) applicator approvals. We have had a continuous presence at HMNB Portsmouth since 2002; the current five year contract runs to 2021, and includes HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Daring, HMS Westminster, offices, stores and dock infrastructure. We also have recently completed a contract for blast cleaning and painting offshore patrol vessels at BAE Govan and Scotstoun. Completed contracts in this sector include:
In addition to our marine contracts, we have carried out industrial painting works at defence facilities, such as the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston, RSME Milney, RAF Linton on Ouse and DST Leconfield. Our staff are trained in the processes required for working in sensitive locations and have the necessary security clearance.
Within our decorating business, we have had a presence at Catterick Garrison and the surrounding bases since the 1950s. We redecorate all types of buildings including barracks, mess rooms, kitchens, workshops, stores, hangars, offices and ablution blocks. Our teams provide the flexibility needed to respond to peaks in demand and carry out reactive works across the United Kingdom.
Our factories offer a high-quality finish, ideal for iconic structures. For example, we were responsible for blast cleaning and coating the Bomber Command Memorial. The factories also support naval contracts, we clean and paint pipelines, shipping fenders, masts and brows. Previous projects include the guidance masts for Portsmouth Harbour to facilitate docking of HMS Queen Elizabeth, and steelwork for the BAE Systems Submarine Academy.
The company’s social value activities focus on military projects, for example, restoring a local war memorial and transporting a 2.5 tonne anchor to the National Memorial Arboretum free of charge.
